Easy to use and relatively lightweight (at least compared to other ebikes), the Townie Go! 7D is an excellent ebike to help get you started with this exciting technology. Not a motorcycle, but a bike with a pedal-assist motor system, this e-bike has enough power to get you up those hills and across town. These ebikes have been generously provided by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine and are expertly maintained by Gorham Bike & Ski in Portland.
The goal for this program is to allow you to become more familiar with this technology -- and hopefully become an ebike enthusiast!
Requirements
You must watch a series of videos and pass a test at the library before reserving an ebike. If you haven't completed this step, please book a time to attend training here. You may also watch the video and take the quiz any time the library is open. Go to the Adult Services desk at least 30 minutes before closing to get started.
Pick-Up
When you come to the library to pick up the Ebike you will be given a Terms & Conditions form to read and sign, if you haven't already done so earlier.
Please arrive on the day listed in your reservation. A staff person will quickly answer any questions you may have and check out the ebike (along with a back pack containing a helmet, bike lock, charging cable and bike wrench) to you.
Always keep the ebike locked with the provided bike lock when not in use.
Return
You may return the bike to the library at any time before the end of your reservation. Please return the bike during open library hours and at least 30 minutes before closing. You must return the ebike with the helmet (if borrowed), bike lock, charging cable and bike wrench in the provided backpack. Please mention any problems you had with the bike and equipment to the staff person who checks the bike in. You will not be charged for any unintentional damage.
Do not leave the bike outside the library.
