FULL Writing Your Life- A Memoir Group IN-PERSON In-Person
Memoirs, unlike autobiographies which are based on research, come from the writer's memory. What you remember is your "true" story, even though others may remember events differently than you do. Memoirs strive for emotional truth more than historical truth and are written in a more personal and intimate voice. These are the stories that have given shape and meaning to your life.
This program offers a supportive group setting in which you are invited to write short personal stories in response to suggested writing prompts. Stories are shared in the group session, not to be critiqued, but to be affirmed and celebrated. Over time as your collection of such stories grows, they will begin to take shape as a lively record of your life's journey.
The facilitator for this in-person session is Judy Johnson, a writer, a retired social worker, a member of the Library's Board of Trustees, and an all-around lovely person.
Please only register if you can attend at least 4 out of the 6 sessions as space is limited and interest is high.
