As the USM Faculty Scholar for the Jean Byers Sampson Center LGBTQ+ Collection, Wendy Chapkis worked to preserve and disseminate Maine’s queer history. She is a Professor Emerita of Sociology and Women & Gender Studies at the University of Southern Maine and the author of numerous articles and three books.
