Join us to learn how to make paper fillagree artwork.

To participate you will need:

  • A sturdy piece of paper on which to glue your paper art. 
  • Glue
    • If purchasing, we recommend a biodegradable brand made from plants such as a starch paste (for example such as Yasutomo Nori Paste) but traditional petrochemical PVA glues will also work if you have some to use up.
  • Strips of paper to make your artworks
  • Tools to wrap paper around or in
    • a round pencil
    • a thin wire
    • small caps
  • Tools to secure your paper while it dries
    • a corkboard and pins

MORE INFORMATION

Prep for this craft by cutting your colored scrap paper into long strips. 1/8th inch wide is a good width for a beginner. You can find used colored paper by utilizing old magazines from our magazine swap or recycling bin. You can use a paper cutter, a rotary cutter or basic scissors to cut the strips.
